Still time to submit OUTstanding proposals! Deadline is August 22nd

Welcome to OUTstanding!  Say it with us Tennessee…1, 2, 3, “GAY!”  Ok!  Now, want to say “Gay” with a group of people who also say “Gay?”  Well then, Submit a Proposal to OUTstanding!

We’re excited to be hosting the first LGBTIQ Conference at UT Knoxville on Saturday, October 22nd 2011!

We’re currently accepting PROPOSALS for presentations, workshops, scholar forums and performances.  The Deadline is August 22nd.

We are looking forward to a wide variety of creative, inventive, and thought-provoking proposals from diverse individuals, organizations and groups on LGBTIQ Issues.

Who Can Submit a Proposal?  Anyone, including UT faculty, staff, and students as well as community members, local organizations, regional groups and other education institutions.  OUTstanding organizers encourage presentations by and about diverse ethnic, cultural, racial, gender, language, religious, socioeconomic, sexual orientation, disability, and geographic groups.  Our Proposal Review Committee is charged with selecting a balance regarding topics, formats, and audiences. Proposals will be reviewed by at least three readers.

Proposal topics for exploration, conversation and celebration can include the university experience, secondary education issues, current local, state, national and international legislation, gender expression, history, activism, class, race, gender, sexuality, sexual orientation, ethnicity, disability, belief, spirituality and religion, Appalachian and rural culture, health and wellness issues, social and economic justice issues.  But that’s not all, of course.  We seek to facilitate an intersectional and critical analysis and understanding of LGBTIQ issues at OUTstanding.  Our experiences, perceptions, and lives are multiple, complex, and unique and we hope for material and work at OUTstanding from many perspectives.

Please join us in submitting a proposal!  We’d love to have you!
