OUTstanding 2012: A Seminar Exploring LGBTIQ Diversity is the 2nd annual LGBTIQ conference at the University of Tennessee Knoxville!
OUTstanding is a one day, public and free seminar for all identities and backgrounds including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer (LGBTIQ) and ally-identified college students, faculty, staff and all community members. Straight allies are of course welcome and encouraged to attend.
OUTstanding will consist of presentations, panel discussions, workshops, performances and keynote addresses for all levels of understanding about various topics intersecting with LGBTIQ issues. Formal schedule and options will be updated on our website soon.
We are committed to providing a space for the celebration of LGBTIQ and multicultural visibility, intersectionality, and coalition building around diversity issues on our campus and community as well as campuses and communities nationwide. A main program goal of OUTstanding is to bring together individuals and groups to facilitate transformative discussions that lead to concrete solutions for UT, Knoxville, and beyond. A hopeful future through making it better, together.
Registration is REQUIRED but free and easy to attend OUTstanding. We will see you at The Carolyn Brown University Center off Cumberland Ave on October 13, 2012!
Counselors from UT’s Counseling Center will be on site. Sign Language interpreters will be provided. The University Center is wheelchair accessible. Catering will be vegan and vegetarian friendly. If you have any other accommodation concerns or needs please let us know
