Continuing Education
We strive to provide continuing education opportunities at OUTstanding for diverse groups. OUTstanding begins with registration between 9am-10am and lasts until 5pm.
We are able to offer the following:
- Extra credit for UT students for select courses (ask your instructors!)
- Professional Development Opportunities for UT staff
- Clock Hours for Social Workers (info below)
- Teacher Continuing Ed Credit (for K-12 teachers)
To receive continuing education credit, you must have pre-registered online and check in to registration between 9am-10am on October 22nd.
Clock Hours for Social Workers
We will be offering Training Certificates for clock hours for Social Workers. OUTstanding is FREE, open to the public, and for all identities and backgrounds. Social Workers seeking clock hours will need to have registered. Certificates will be available at the registration table end of OUTstanding, 5pm.
Social Workers will be able to earn a total of 5.5 clock hours of training if you attend the entire seminar. If you cannot be there all day, you can earn 2 hours for the morning session and 3.5 for the afternoon session.
Here are the learning objectives that will be addressed:
OUTstanding participants will learn about and be able to describe differences among
lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer (LGBTIQ) people.
- OUTstanding participants will be able to recognize historical and political issues
regarding LGBTIQ people.
- OUTstanding participants will learn about useful groups, resources, and websites
regarding LGBTIQ people.
- OUTstanding participants will learn about micro and macro issues to create a healthy
and welcoming environment on a campus and/or in a community for LGBTIQ people.
- OUTstanding participants will learn about challenges and obstacles LGBTIQ people face
when seeking services.
