OUTstanding is an annual, public and free seminar for all identities and backgrounds including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer (LGBTIQ) and ally-identified college students and community members. We are committed to providing a space for the celebration of LGBTIQ and multicultural visibility, intersectionality, and coalition building around diversity issues on our campus and community as well as campuses and communities nationwide.
Registration is required to attend OUTstanding. All students, faculty, staff and community members can attend, we have broadened our location to allow for even more people so make sure you sign up!!!
OUTstanding was created to explore the intersectional diversity within the LGBTIQ community for the University of Tennessee Knoxville and surrounding communities, and to educate and increase compassion within our University, the greater Knoxville community, and beyond. Subjects for exploration, conversation and celebration will include the university experience, secondary education issues, gender expression, class, race, gender, sexuality, sexual orientation, ethnicity, disability, belief, spirituality and religion, Appalachian and rural culture, health and wellness issues, social and economic justice issues and more.
